Links to Tembo and Sunda's life histories
Tembo and Sunda were both stolen from the wild and their mothers & aunties as babies while they were still nursing. They were not "designated for placement in a zoo to ensure their survival" as some groups are saying. They both were stolen back when groups were gunning down whole herds just to get to the babies so they could ship them overseas to circuses and zoos. Here is what little bit of information we could find on their past:
Tembo - captured in the wild (Kenya) at age 2 (see Page 9 of link below).
